It’s time for evil, it’s time for death

I’m not really a big fan of low-budget movies. Usually I can’t immerse myself in them the same way as a full blown hollywood production. Of course, it depends on the movie in question, but in general…
But even so, the one movie that means more to me than most other movies is a very low-budgety one. Or there’s actually two, three of them. Sure, number three was a little more ambitious than the first two, but it still qualifies for the same group.
I’m talking about Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness. What else?
I loved humor before Evil Dead, I loved zombies and I loved excessive use of blood and gore, but it wasn’t until after that I fell madly in love with Bruce Campbell’s character. Not just Ash, but Campbell as an actor.
There was no and still isn’t a better man for the job. Too bad the remake won’t feature.. well, Bruce. Though I must admit that it’s going to be interesting to see if they can pull it off.
Anyway. I just wanted to say that it’s time to revisit, relive and redie the original trilogy now, starting with Evil Dead 1 tomorrow.
It’s time for evil, it’s time for death.
It’s time for Ash!
Craving hats and murders

Right now I’m revisiting old Two and a Half Men episodes, and today I happened to watch the one where Alan gives Charlie a hat as a way of saying “I’m sorry for moving back in again”. Sort of.
Of course, the hat is awful, but when Jake tries it on and imitates the hilarious Vod Kanockers I suddenly got a very strong urge for crime, more hats and intrigues. And what is a better thing to do than to pick up L.A. Noire for Xbox 360 again?
I left it unfinished a couple of months back, but now, when Portal 2 is finished (great game, by the way) there’s no better time to start playing again.
And for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about. Here’s Vod!
Happy New Year from Japan

2012 is here, in Japan at least! People are visiting temples all over the country, but I’m staying indoors playing Portal 2 instead. Guess who’s having the most fun? Jokes aside, tomorrow will be a blast when we go out eating and drinking, me and a bunch of friends. That’s when the real party begins.
Also! Still playing Homefront, of course. And Gears of War 3. Add me: Major Gnarl
Some people just don’t like THQ

THQ, now solely behind brilliant Homefront from former Kaos Studios, isn’t to eveyone’s liking. Like this fellow who apparently did something he shouldn’t have. At least he’s being honest about it, but I’m not so sure he’ll last longer this time.
Just look at this hilarious post from the Homefront forum where he expresses his opinions about the publisher. And he’s riming too!
Some tactical Final Fantasy for our iPhones

It actually came, Square Enix’s own Duke Nukem Forever. I’m talking about Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for iPhone and iPod touch. Lovers of the genre and retro nerds will have to shell out $15.99 for this but first impressions seem to be quite positive, and the slowdown issue found in the PSP version should be more tolerable here.
Blurry text though, so not everything looks Retina sharp.
And don’t forget that there will be an iPad specific version later this year, so save your money if you want to play on the big screen instead.
Wasting money on DLC

Ok, I admit it! I do get sick and tired of the games I’m playing every now and then. Well, that was an understatement. I hate the games, very often. Like, every day. Homefront is no exception. With my bad connection it’s not easy, so what to do? I don’t know. But apparently I wasted 113 Swedish crowns to refill my Xbox Live points in order to buy this.
The Express 870 Shotgun!
Will it do extra damage? Well, it’d better! Cuz my wallet demands it!
The flying 3DS

Have you ever seen a flying Nintendo 3DS? Nor have I, this one is standing on my bedroom door handle. As far as we know, Nintendo 3DS doesn’t fly, it rather crash and burn. Nintendo is lowering the price, you know!
New DLC for Homefront not so popular

So I finally got to try at least the Bridge map in the new map pack for Homefront on Xbox 360. It’s called The Rock and consist of two maps, Alcatraz and Bridge. Apparently not a lot of people bought this pack yet, so playable players are rare. But today I got to play Bridge at least. With five others.
Imaging that. Ground Control with five people. It wasn’t the biggest party on earth. Besides, being in Japan means that my connection to the rest of the world is rather shitty, so I play with one red bar only, something that’s noticeable when you’re going head to head with an enemy. I shoot, I die. Crappy connections do that to you.
Oh well…
Major Gnarl on tumblr

I’m leaving Carmine Lives behind me for now and begin a new on this more international tumblr blog instead. It’s about my life in Japan and primarily my gaming habits (as seen above).
Yes, I love to play games online, especially Homefront and Gears of War 2 on Xbox Live. Feel free to add me if you’re into these titles as well.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more content coming up on a regular basis.
